Royal Queensland Show (Ekka)
Brisbane Showgrounds, Bowen Hills
Queensland’s largest annual event returns after its 150th year — showbags, animals, rides, competitions and EkkaNITES fireworks.
Also worth knowing: the Ekka ran 8–16 August for its 150th year and returns in August 2027, and the Brisbane International Film Festival is paused for 2026 while Screen Queensland rebuilds it for a 2027 return.
Getting to your event

Stadium road closures. Milton and Caxton Street shut around Suncorp on match days and Vulture Street tightens for the Gabba. Tell us your seat or hotel when you book and we will set a pick-up point outside the closures.
Groups. A sedan carries three, the people mover seven and the maxi taxi eleven — all priced per vehicle, not per head, so a full car is the cheapest way for a group to travel.
Book early for peak nights. Riverfire, both World Cup match days at Suncorp, New Year’s Eve and the Woodford run all book out our fleet well in advance.
